*NEW BREAKING NEWS*

This JUST in… Scott Masingill,  #0047, QUALIFIES FOR SENIOR U.S. OPEN

On the third hole of a Sudden-Death Playoff at the Senior U.S. Open Qualifier at Dragon Ridge Country Club in Las Vegas, Nevada, Golf Nut #0047, Scott Masingill bested Mark Peel of Del Ray Beach, Florida to clinch a berth at the U.S. Senior Open.

“Today was right up my alley,” Scott said coyly after the round, “108 degrees on a  golf course that NO ONE EVER WALKS!” When pressed further about his victory, Scott admitted; “It was a grind out there. At times it was awful hard to concentrate.”

It may have been a grind but the results certainly prove that Scott was up to the task. After a world-class up & down for par on #2, he went on to birdie the third and fourth to reach -2 through the first four holes. An errant tee shot on the par-3 fifth, a 3-putt bogey on the par-3 fourteenth and a lapse of focus on the 16th combined to put Scott on the 18th tee at +1. The par-5 18th hole at Dragon Ridge provides a dramatic finish to any round, playing 570 yards with a split fairway and plenty of trouble. Masingill cracked driver deep down the right fairway and reached the center of the green with a rescue club. His 6-footer for birdie put him into a playoff at Even Par.

“The greens at Dragon Ridge are as good as any I’ve ever played. They were rolling at 11 or 12, very smooth but very tricky,” Masingill stated.

Aided by “Super-Looper, ” Curt Mitchell as his caddy, Masingill entered the playoff with a lot of confidence. He saved a miracle par on the second playoff hole and closed out the match with a four-foot par putt on the third playoff hole.

The victory assures Scott of a spot in the  U.S. Senior Open Championship
at the Broadmoor Resort, Colorado Springs, Colorado July 31 - Aug. 03.
